Leaking Superpowers

Today’s meditation focused on Luke 2:41-50 + Spiritual Exercises 135.

My daughter stayed to play with me in the room while I meditated. She was engrossed in her own world, voicing characters in her game, while I was occupied with mine.

At a certain point during the meditation, I paused to reflect on my intentions; it was not entirely clear what was driving me in certain situations, and I felt a strong urge to write down everything that came to mind regarding this and to understand what was happening. Before I moved on to my notes, I pondered that this might contradict the standard flow of the Exercises and perhaps I should not disrupt the methodology. So, I asked, “My dear beloved Friend, should I switch gears?..”
The more I doubted and tried to analyse what would be best, the more discomfort I felt in my body and a heavy pull in my head 🙂. Therefore, I turned to Christ with the following words: “If I should not be distracted by this, please let me know, and I will stop immediately and return to the standard flow of the Exercises.” As soon as I decided to start writing, the discomfort and heaviness vanished.

To differentiate between various thoughts, I took some fine markers of different colours that I had bought long ago. It turned out that the ink had leaked during storage, and while I was writing, I occasionally found myself fiddling with tissues to wipe the tips. Over time, everything I was pondering became clearer and clearer, but at a certain moment, I encountered a sort of paralysis, a reluctance to write and analyse further, so I paused and froze in thought. My daughter also froze in her game, and silence filled the room. I mentally turned to Christ: “What should I do now?..”

The answer was unexpected. In the silence of the room, my daughter suddenly exclaimed: “Use your leaking superpowers!” 😂🤣🙃
What😄??? She couldn’t see me behind the monitor, didn’t know that the markers had leaked, and hadn’t even seen me take them! It was simply part of the storyline in her game where a dragon had “leaked superpowers” in the sea 😆.

I have often heard that writing instruments and paper are among the most powerful tools created by humankind, and in analysing anything, they truly provide superpowers; thus, I took the instruction literally 🙂, picked up the marker again, and with a bit of effort, continued to write. As a result, everything became clear, and I came to understand my intentions regarding a particular project, where there was indeed a very unexpected and important outcome hidden 🙂.
